Volunteer Program

OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THIS INFO IS FOR HISTORICAL REFERENCE ONLY.

Blanks Berry Farm is in northeast Alabama, USA. We grow and sell various type berries, herbs, vegetables, and bedding plants. With 55 acres there is a variety of features including greenhouses, pastures, fields, meadows, ponds, creeks, woods, and beaver dams.

We hope our farm program and volunteer training will last for generations. We provide volunteers with room and board, local transportation, and other basic necessities. Work tasks during spring and summer seasons can include planting, transplanting, weeding, mulching, pruning, installing and repairing irrigation systems, propagating plants by various techniques, building bird houses, mowing grass/weeds, construction (carpentry, concrete, electrical, plumbing), grinding corn into corn meal, and marketing duties. Fall and winter projects include planting berries, building more greenhouses or buildings, planting flower and vegetable seeds for the next spring, or maybe construction  of fences Also have equipment for pottery, wheels and kiln, which are used to a limited extent. Help can be used year around. New projects include expanding our Permaculture activities, beekeeping, diversify produce varieties, start alternate energy resources including solar, wind, and water power.

For fun we square dance, round dance, roller skate, play volleyball, go hiking, read, watch movies, play chess, go swimming, and meditate on new ideas. Open to other activities. We enjoy working a lot also.
